Yesterday, I was talking to someone about TouchOffice Web and the fact that it gives our dealers the opportunity to sell something to their customers that's on a recurring revenue basis. Obviously we charge you guys a mere £5 / m / till for that service, with no minimum tie in or cancellation period, you even get the first full month for free This is cheap by anyone's measure and I honestly believe it really gives you the platform that you need to go out and market this product.
We would expect that under normal circumstances that this service would be marked up by you guys by 100%, ie you put it out at £10 / m / till. The reality that we're hearing is that it's going out with a markup closer to 200% !
Purely out of interest and with that in mind, I decided to have a look through our billing report for this service to decide what sort of money you guys are making off the backs of this. And there's 2 things that really caught my eye:
1. There seems to be a handful of dealers that are VERY behind this product and those dealers have sold lots of them
2. There seems to be a lot of dealers that have only dipped their toe in the water with it and so consequently have done no more than a few of them.
And nothing in between .... which is the purpose of this message, to highlight to those that have not got on board with this product what a game changer it is for you in this industry
So I'm going to throw some numbers at you. The top resellers selling this product are being invoiced £2,000 / m ! Which on the face of it sounds like it's costing them a lot, but then when you turn that on it's head with the sort of markup they're expected to make on it you suddenly realise that they could well be making as much as £50,000 / yr profit! Which is 2 engineers wages! For a hosted/rented product that is maintained by ICRTouch themselves! And these aren't big dealers either.
Ok so those are the biggest, maybe they've been lucky enough to attract a couple of large customers, right!? Well perhaps.
So I've decided to highlight someone more 'average'
This particular dealer has 6 members of staff; 3 technicians, 1 salesman, 1 owner/boss and 1 in admin. They've been selling TouchOffice Web for around 18 months, have 90 active accounts, 210 tills and is currently being invoiced £1,200 / month! Which is £15,000 / yr and could well mean that this dealer is currently enjoying a profit of £30,000 / yr for this one product alone!
What's even more interesting is that if you divide tills by accounts you will see that they have an average of 2.3 tills per account which oddly enough is the standard average for TouchOffice Web. This firstly is indicative that they're the normal standard sort of customers that you guys pick up, but it also means that there's no single customer that's contributing to the lion's share of that income. The retention rate of TouchOffice Web is incredibly high, nonetheless customers do leave so it is comforting to know that you would need a LOT to leave to make a dent on that valued income. To put some real numbers to this only 10% of customers that took the service out throughout 2015 have cancelled it to date; this figure includes those that only tried it for the first free month!!
There are other key benefits as well. Many dealers have realised that they can also roll the yearly maintenance contract in with their TOW subscription which means that service contracts are more likely to be taken and even if they don't opt for a service contract the mere fact that you are invoicing them each month for their back office software means that you still have some form of regular of contact with them which makes you the likely first point of contact whenever they require anything else.
